ONLY 10 people are allowed in the church at any given time and you MUST practice social distancing. The church has been designed for this social distancing to take place. It is imperative that these mandates and compliance’s be practiced.
Very important- there will be NO masses celebrated at this time. We will continue to livestream the mass.
The rectory remains closed and no meetings will take place.
According to the Diocese of Brooklyn we are in Stage 1 of the re-opening phase.
We would appreciate your cooperation during this re-opening phase.
There will be only one door open which will be the center door of the church. Please say your prayers and be considerate of others who want to come in and pray. Remember, only 10 people are allowed in the church.
God bless,

My dear parishioners,
The final count of how many parishioners will be able to sit and attend each mass is 102 people. The Big Question is- what happens when it reaches 102. Well the answer is according to the mandate and compliance of all our churches in the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens that each parishioner must be within 6ft of each other in the pews. As I mentioned before in my first letter, the church has been completed in the seating design according to the compliance. When our doors are open to celebrate the Eucharist, you will notice that each pew is marked on the seat with a blue tape X which indicates that is where you must sit. Our large pews will have the capacity of 3 people, the next size pews will have a capacity of 2 people and our smallest pews will have a capacity of 1 person. Every other pew in our church will be blocked off with a bright yellow tape with the letter marked “CAUTION”. These pews will be blocked off at both ends. Absolutely no one is permitted to sit in these pews. Once again, this is with the mandatory compliance for safety and health.
So, when the attendance reaches 102, no other person will be permitted to be seated in the church and no standing is permitted. Permit me to suggest and recommend that you come earlier, so that you will get a seat. I hope our parishioners understand that, this ruling is for the safety and the health of all of us. It is not that we do not want you to be in your beautiful church, but of course with this pandemic our world has changed and our ways of doing things have changed. It is not the “normal” routine anymore. If you do arrive for a mass and the attendance has reached its max, then you will need to attend the next mass. As I understand, that can be an inconvenience to you, but we need to work together so that everyone is safe and healthy. That is my number one priority and being in compliance with the mandate.
I would greatly appreciate your cooperation and understanding during these difficult and trying times and our new way of worship for this time. We don’t know when things will be back to “normal” so to speak. I cannot wait for our doors to our beautiful church to be open so we can celebrate together the Eucharist, even though it may be limited, it is still the greatest gift we have in our lives to receive Jesus in His true presence and to celebrate the Paschal Mystery as a parish family.
Know of my continue prayers. May God bless you and your families with His peace and love.
Love and prayers,
Fr. Peter

My dear parishioners,
I hope and pray all of you are healthy and safe and doing the best that you can during this pandemic. Know of my daily prayers for all of you. I wanted to give you some update on St. Finbar preparation for the re-opening of our churches in the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens when that happens.
The re-opening plan will be implemented when it is directed by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio and his committee. When this plan is finalized and addressed to the Pastors then I will post that plan on our website and Facebook page. There has been no date when our doors of our church and all churches in our Diocese will be open. As you aware, the Diocese takes also the course of action from the city and state guidelines. We hope that it will be soon because we all miss celebrating mass at our beautiful church.
In the meantime, Francisco and I have started to set up the design of the require mandate of the seating inside the church. The large pews in our church will permit 3 people to sit, the next size pew will be 2 and the smallest of our pews only 1 person. Each person is required to sit 6 feet apart. We have labeled the seat with a blue tape X. Every other pew will be blocked off at both ends with a bright yellow and black lettered “CAUTION” tape. It is estimated that about 93 people will be able to attend each mass.
I have ordered the following supplies from ICS in preparation for the re-opening. Here are the supplies:
Station Floor Stand- for hand sanitizing solution containers. I was limited to only 4. Face masks and All- purpose Disinfectant Cleaner for the pews and floors.
The ICS rep is working on getting a better supply of Hand Sanitizer bottles. As expected, these items are very limited due to the high demand. As I can order more, I will. I want each and every parishioner to be safe and health procedures are in place to prevent any sickness.
Continue to please check the webpage and Facebook page of our parish for updates and important information. I appreciate those who are participating in our livestream daily masses and listening to my daily reflections in both English and Spanish. I am trying my best to communicate with my parishioners during this difficult time with this pandemic. I appreciate and give you my heartfelt thanks for your support, love and care to your parish during this time. It is greatly appreciated. God bless you abundantly.
Remain safe and healthy and let us pray for one another. We all cannot wait till our doors are once again opened.
Love and peace,
Fr. Peter
